Cats are cute, but they can become very destructive. Let us explain how to keep cats out of your yard. Read on for tips and tricks on how to keep cats away from your yard!

Step 1: Identify the Problem

The first thing you must do is identify what exactly you want to get rid of in your yard. If it is indeed feral cats that are causing all of this trouble, then you may need more than just simple feline repellent. You will probably need to contact a pest control service or some other aggressive method of getting rid of these persistent pests. Here’s 10 ways on how to get rid of feral cats.

Step 2: Determine What Cats Like

Once you have identified the problem, it is time to determine what cats are attracted to.

What do cats like? You need to know this so you can buy deterrents that are effective against them! There are various ways of keeping away cats, but they will only be effective if you use it in an area where the cat frequents. If your yard is relatively free of these items, then unfortunately there isn’t much you can do about deterring cats from coming into your yard.

Here’s a list of what attracts felines:

  • Water sources
  • Warmth and comfort (birdbaths!)
  • Tree trunks

Now that you have determined what exactly is attracting the cats, you need to start using deterrents that will keep them away.

Step 3: Deter Cats from Coming into Your Yard

Now that you’ve determined what exactly is luring these creatures over to your yard, it is time to take action on keeping them out by implementing effective repellents against the cat. A good method of doing this is by spraying vinegar directly onto whatever attracts them to your yard. This will serve as a way for them to understand that this area isn’t safe and they should go elsewhere! You can also try using cayenne pepper or citrus peels in order to repel cats from your yard.

If it is merely cats that are allowed outside that you would like to keep in your yard, then there are still many things you can do! Keeping these lovely creatures out of your garden will be much simpler than getting rid of feral cats because these animals are not aggressive toward humans and pets. If they are leaving feces all over the place, you’ll need to clean this up with a good sanitizing cleaner which can easily be found at any local home goods store such as Lowes or Home Depot. In addition to cleaning up their business, you should also try deterrents such as sprinklers or motion activated lights. You may even want to invest in a cat fence so they cannot escape

Clean up!

It is also important that you clean your yard before anything else. Whether it was the cat itself or just its business, this will serve as an indicator for cats that they should not be entering your property. If there are leftovers from the previous night’s dinner, don’t leave them around which could cause other animals such as raccoons or squirrels to come over and damage your garden. It is important that you get rid of any possible food sources so no other creatures come near! Using a bin with a lid would be a good idea in order to keep out any other creatures which could cause harm to your property.

The sooner you can get rid of the cat or cats, the better! Cats reproduce very quickly and if you’ve only gotten rid of one animal, there could be another one on its way! That is why it is important that you take care of this problem immediately in order to prevent any further damage.
